First thing: I got the black distressed, which are actually black with a lavender wash. Indoors they look mostly black, but out in the light, they have a lot of lavender-purple in them! For me, this is why I got them!! I saw them on Free People, listed as a new Bed Stu Manchester boot in "black-lavender" and then busted my --- to find them cheaper somewhere else! But though they are VERY similar to the Manchester in looks (the main difference is the perforated shaft), I found them to be thicker, better quality leather (i had just gotten the Manchester and returned them for these). And the purple wash CANNOT be beat (if you like looking a bit unique and wearing things no one else has)! So it took some searching to find out that these were Bed Stu's brand-new Cambridge boot, NOT a Manchester. On Amazon- and elsewhere- they are listed as simply "black" or "black distressed" BUT they ARE black and lavender. As of this date they only come in two colors- tan driftwood (sometimes called just "tan") and this black-purple combo. I think that's important to know! They are GORGEOUS! In my extensive boot collection (haha, you boot hoarders know what I'm saying!) these have quickly become my favorite every day boot. Besides being beautifully made, and besides the fact that I LOVE (and pined for) the black-lavender color, they are supremely comfortable from minute one. I wore these two days in a row, on my feet all day at work, even went for a walk in them and they felt like I'd owned them forever! That's what I love about this brand- Bed Stus are the MOST comfortable boots I own, and I own four pairs :D !! I also have Docs and Frye and Freebird and Born and none come close to Bed Stu in comfort. The fit- they do seem to run a bit big lengthwise, though the footbed is narrow. My feet are medium width, but if your feet are on the wider side, these may not be the boots for you. I almost always size up from a 7.5 to an 8 in boots to make room for winter socks but in Bed Stu- in my own experience- they always run a bit big (long) so I went with a 7.5 (my true size) but I could've maybe even done a 7. I kept the 7.5 (couldn't bear to send them back and wait for a new pair! you know what i mean!) and though roomy, they're very, very comfortable. If you even remotely like the idea of standing out in the black- lavender boot, you will LOVE and adore these boots. Right now, after wearing them for over a week nearly every day, they are my all-time favorite boots! Even my husband who could care less about shoes/boots, noticed them and said they were the coolest boots he ever saw.Beautiful boots. Received compliments the first time i wore them out. Things i’ve noticed: only the heel has some grip, the rest of the sole is leather so super slippery. Not sure why they would do that. The foot of the boot is super sturdy (like super stiff leather) but the leg of the boot is super soft unlined perforated leather so you must be careful not to tug too hard when putting it on. I’ve ripped the leather a tiny bit near the zip. With regards to sizing, I found them true to size. I am usually a 9 - 10 depending on the shoe and I got a 9.5. If you have a range like me i’d go the upper range to fit socks comfortably and get the boot on more easily. I can’t imagine the foot of the shoe stretching as it is so solid. Someone previously mentioned this but they are a little harder to put on compared with boots that have a full zip. Also the soft leather is gorgeous but I’m assuming it will stretch so that’s why they’ve added the leather lace at the back. Overall a great purchase I’ve wanted flat knee high tan boots for a while and these are definitely different from what you see in the shops. Gorgeous features just wish the sole wasn’t leather as it’s impractical. This is my second pair of BedStu boots. They are amazing and the softness of the leather is wonderful. MY 1st pair was more stiff and the width was more narrow that I couldn't get my orthodic in them. This pair is a little more roomy and has space for me to put some arch supports. I have really bad foot problems and have suffered with plantar faciaitis, so support is critical to me. There isn't any built in support in these boots, but aside from that they are the more GORGEOUS boots ever!! All of their boots are this way. I say another review or two about the colors being different, but that is due to the unique individual dying process. No 2 pairs will be exactly the same.If I have any slight complaint, it is important to know that these boots only have a 1/2 zip on the inside ankle. So if wearing with jeans, you will have to adjust them if they bunch up a bit as you put your foot/leg into the boot. I am 5'11" and have long legs. These come all the way up my calf towards the back of my knee. The leather is so soft, that if you are shorter, the boot itself can "scrunch" some and it they will still look great!!I've worn them once - all day - and had no issues with rubbing, blisters, etc. They were perfect!! I kind of expected a "break-in" time. I also received at least 6 compliments on them.I really, really wanted to love these boots! Sadly, they're too big and sloppy. After reading the reviews, I decided to order a half size smaller (8) than I'd typically order. I know the upper part of the boot is designed to be slightly loose and maybe even slouchy. That's fine, but I didn't want the ankle area to look like rain boots. I'm 5'6'' and have calves & legs on the thin side. Finding boots that aren't huge in the calves is always hard. I thought that the laces in the back of the Cambridge boot would be perfect, allowing me to tighten the calf area up if they were too big. When the boots arrived, I loved the beautiful, soft leather, unique design and fantastic craftsmanship. What I didn't love was the ankle area and the foot of the boot. Both were way too big, and combined with the heavy, clunky foot, the boot looked ridiculous. Overall they just looked gigantic and rain boot-ish on me. Interestingly, the calf and upper fit great. I know they're motorcycle boots and perhaps the larger footbed is part of the "look", but I'd prefer something a little less heavy that would go with the beautiful design of the upper. Too bad because they're super cool and really, well-made. Keep the unique designs coming, Bed Stu!these were my holy grail of boots. finally found a price i could live with and grabbed them for christmas. they feel stiff in the foot but i love the silhouette. they hug your ankle giving you shape and the lace-up top is great. they are snug on my calves but i have heavy athletic calves. they are so buttery soft that you can roll them up and down which is the way i prefer to get in and out of these. because it's winter and these are ventilated i have not walked much in them. if they hurt somewhere i will get them stretched. i wish there had been more of a lavender hue but i could put some light lavender polish around the edges. i am not parting with these babies.I have admired BedStu boots for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Cambridge - based on reviews, I ordered several sizes! I'm glad I did - I'm a narrow 8.5 - 9 in most everything and I have a very high arch/instep. The 8.5 were HUGE but the 8 fit like a second skin - I put them on for a short night out thinking I needed to break them in.... nope! Soooo comfy. They are the perfect height - I'm 5'9" and the boots hit me just under the kneecap. Love the perforated shaft - they stay up on my athletic calves, but I could push them down to slouch more. Versatile for warmer weather wear. Just ordered the Manchester today. I think I'm hooked!!!Absolutely beautiful boots, better for a slimmer legs. If you not sure about the sizing I recommend to get them half size smaller, also I found thatmost of the Bed Stu boots fit quite narrow around the foot. This is my fourth pair of boots from Bed Stu and I absolutely love them !!!Love them.
