These mattresses were fine feeling to my small children but they emitted an extremely strong smell responding me of mosquito repellent. I couldn't have my kids use them again, the smell was so strong in my one year olds hair the night after using it that I thought he had gotten in to something.I have a nectar mattress which never smelled funny as well as mattress toppers and I never had anything like this. These mattresses are USA made, I can't imagine what the source of the smell is- probably something harmless but for us this office rendered them un-useable.Really disappointed with this item. It did not raise to 5 inches as advertised. 2 good blankets folded would work better.No instructions included so I don't know if I should remove the plastic items in the four corners or leave them in. They look like what they use in socks or things that come in, pairs to keep them seperated or contain the price tag in cloth itemsNot very soft. I'd look elsewhere if you want something with some give.Great mattress for a extra large cot for camping. Only issue I have with this is the smell of something that would resemble hay or straw.
